Ingrid Harwood, soprano a native of Stuttgart, Germany, recently re-located here on Oahu with her husband stage director, Brett Harwood and her two sons Nicolas and Sebastian. Although new to the island, she is by no means a stranger to the stage having performed on stages throughout Europe.
First gaining national recognition as a finalist at the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang (Munich/Berlin), Ingrid was next selected as a founding member of the prestigious Stella Academy (Hamburg). Following the completion of her diploma training at the Academy, Ingrid was awarded the role of “Nellie” in the German Premiere of South Pacific at the Stadttheater Hildesheim (where she starred opposite her “leading man” Leslie “Buz” Tennent, reprized resently in American Voice with Hawai'i Vocal Arts Eneamble).
Following nearly a year of touring Europe as a soloist in the International Company of The Andrew Lloyd Webber Gala, she returned to Stuttgart for a year long engagement with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. She then moved on to leading roles in the European Premiere productions of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change and Triumph of Love (for which she was awarded “Best Supporting Actress” at the European Tournament of Plays).
Among her favorite roles are “Lily” in The Secret Garden and “Amalia” in She Loves Me. In addition to her onstage credits, Ingrid holds a Master’s degree in Music and Elementary Education from the Pädagogische Hochschule Ludwigsburg.
