the Director:
Timothy Carney, founding Music Director of Hawai'i
Vocal Arts Ensemble, is Associate Professor of Music
at Chaminade University of Honolulu, where he teaches
music history, musical theatre, and conducts the Chaminade
Chorus. He specializes in performances of sacred oratorio,
and has given the first Hawai'i performances of many
choral masterworks, including Handel's Solomon, Arvo
Pärt's Berliner Messe, Hermann Suter's oratorio
Le Laudi di San Francesco d'Assisi, Otto Olsson's Te
Deum, and many smaller works. He is honored to accept
the 2006 Medallion of Excellence from the Hawai`i chapter
of the National Society of Arts and Letters.
