Chaminade University and Hawai`i Vocal Arts Ensemble
present the Twenty-third annual
Music for Voices and Harp
with special guest, Megan Bledsoe Ward, harp
Join the singers of Hawai`i Vocal Arts Ensemble for these much-anticipated concerts of traditional and lesser-known music for Christmas in the intimate acoustic of Mystical Rose Oratory at Chaminade University.
This year we will feature music for voices and harp, including Benjamin Britten's sparkling Ceremony of Carols, written in 1942 while Britten was at sea, returning from the United States to England during the dark years of WWII.
Also on the program is beautiful new music by outstanding young composers Ola Gjeilo, Daniel Elder, and Eriks Esenvalds.
Megan Bledsoe Ward currently performs as Principal Harpist with the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra and as a freelance harpist in Honolulu. She teaches music theory at Pacific Rim School of the Arts and teaches private harp lessons in both Hawaii and Alaska. She holds a masters degree in Music Theory and Harp performance, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Harp Performance.
